The Swiss Open named tournament of the year 2010 by the International Tennis Federation!

We have the great pleasure to share this fantastic and unexpected news with you. Difficulties in 2009 threatened to interrupt the continuity of this tournament that is almost a quarter century. Thanks to the unconditional support of our sponsors and the players' insistence, the committee of the Swiss Open was able to give body and soul for the 24th edition of the tournament last July. This successfull week has filled all of our hopes and gave new energy to our event.

The distinction of "best tournament of the year 2010" is a recognition that goes straight to the heart, and waters at the same time the seeds of success of the 2011 edition!
We wish to warmly thank the ITF for this honor.

Here is the text published on the website of the ITF:

“The Swiss Open continues to demonstrate high levels of organisation and promotion under the leadership of Tournament Director Sybille Bonvin and her dedicated team. The ITF 1 Series event in Geneva celebrated its 23rd year in 2010 and remains among the highest quality events on the NEC Wheelchair Tennis Tour and one of the most popular with players from around the world.”

Some testimonials:

"Le swiss open est une manifestation que nous avons toujours beaucoup apprécié pour son ambiance, sa bonne humeur, l'investissement et la générosité de tous les bénévoles ainsi que les exploits sportifs de ses joueurs. " Fabienne Gremion, Nestlé Waters

"Ce tournoi sportif porte haut les couleurs de l'humanisme, de l'optimisme, du courage et du dépassement de soi. Autant de valeurs que nous partageons avec enthousiasme au Starling Hotel Geneva." Tania Langhabel, Starling Hotel Geneva

"The Swiss Open is one of best tournaments on the tour and different than all the others! The tournament is always surrounded by a good atmosphere and the opening dinner and outstanding official evening make you feel very welcome as player. I will never forget winning the Swiss Open in 2000 on a crowded center court. The atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience." Maaike Smit, 3 gold medals at the Paralympics
